The Green Silk Shawl tells the story of four generations of Swiss women who lived in the mountains in the south-east of Switzerland in the 19th and 20th centuries.

The tale is oral history: we can hear the women telling their children and grandchildren about the hardships, the joys, and the hopes they experienced during their long lives. Many readers will remember the locations from their family holidays: the charming village of Soglio high above the Val Bregaglia and the better known villages and towns of Sils Maria, Celerina and St Moritz in the Engadin.
